    Themed on “Reimagining Mobility for the New Normal” New Delhi, February 24, 2022: The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the apex automotive industry body, today organized its 16th Styling & Design Conclave along with 14th Automotive Design Challenge, themed on “Reimagining Mobility for the New Normal”. This year’s conclave has provided diverse perspectives on how the future of shared mobility will be for the Gen-Glass and how the passenger experience will evolve against the backdrop of various transformations happening in the auto sector. The conclave witnessed budding automotive designers showcasing the future of automobile styling in India. The virtual conclave showcased the select top-five presentations of the Automotive Design Challenge (ADC) 2021 from design students, depicting new ideas on the future of automotive design. SIAM had initiated the challenge to provide a platform to the aspiring automobile designers to exhibit their talent and capitalize on the opportunities for future. The top-three winners of the ADC 2021 were announced during the conclave.

    Mr Kenichi Ayukawa, President, SIAM said “SIAM welcomes a growth-oriented budget focused on Building Long Term Strength using Investment as the growth lever while maintaining policy stability and inclusivity. The 35% increased Capex outlay, major infrastructure projects like 25,000 km road construction, 100 Cargo terminals, Project GatiShakti, 5G network, optic fibre cable laying and the recent PLI schemes are major positives. Leveraging Biomass and support to ethanol blending for both environment and economy gains could unlock the power of India’s rural economy. Steel price cooling off measures will help the entire manufacturing sector. Impetus to charging infrastructure and energy storage systems and government support in R&D for clean energy, green mobility and semiconductors will help the auto sector. We will work with the government for policy on green mobility, special mobility zones and battery swapping. We welcome the message on Ease of Doing Business and look forward to this being observed in spirit by all departments.”

    Monthly Performance: December 2021 Production: The total production of Passenger Vehicles, Three Wheelers, Two Wheelers and Quadricycle in the month of December 2021 was 16,38,111 units Domestic Sales: • Passenger Vehicles* sales were 2,19,421 units in December 2021. • Three-wheeler sales were 28,111 units in December 2021. • Two-wheeler sales were 10,06,062 units in December 2021.

    The Executive Committee of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the apex body of the Indian automobile industry, today elected Mr Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO, VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV) as its new Vice President for the current year 2021-22. VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV) is a joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors Limited.
